Ken “Numba 1” Orser, Joe “Top Wop” Mura, Stefan “The Robot” Kondolay and myself are en route to the NHRA Division 6 ET Finals in Boise, Idaho to represent Team On A Mission. Hopefully, one of us wins and earns a spot in the NHRA World Finals in Pomona, California!

In what has to be the quickest SIAH update ever, it appears that Team Surrey In A Hurry members kicked ass and took names this weekend at the final race of this years NHRA Northwest National Open Series in Portland, OR.

Joe “Top Wop” Mura is making the long tow home as the 2008 National Open Series Top Comp CHAMPION! No details yet on who he raced or how he did, but as the info comes in it’ll get posted here.

Not to be outdone, it looks like Jason “Piston Broke” Gibson dragging his wounded Mustang all the way down wasn’t such a bad idea after all. No details either yet on how he did it, but Jason is this year’s National Open Series Super Pro CHAMPION! Running on a cracked piston…

Future drag racing superstar Justin “Where’s my Shirt?” Gibson wasn’t letting his Dad and Joe take all the glory. Making it three for three, Justin is now the 2008 National Open Series Junior Dragster CHAMPION! Again, no details on the racing yet, but that sure beats losing to a girl, huh?

Hey, speaking of girls and Jr Dragsters, apparently Kayla Allen now has to detail Zak Clarke’s Beretta. Seems she challenged Zak to a reaction time shootout.

Kayla, Kayla, Kayla… you’ll learn. Never, ever, ever challenge Zak (or accept a challenge from him) on ANYTHING. He’s got voodoo luck; things will almost always go his way. You can’t win!

With a Wally on the line, Team SIAH’s Joe “Top Wop” Mura was on the wrong side of 0.008 second margin of victory. It started well, with the Wop’s 0.009 RT just edging out George Evans 0.016. The starting line advantage wasn’t enough though when Evans 7.60 something on a 7.60 when Joe’s 7.475 (7.46 dial) left too much room. Looks like Joe didn’t have an easy go to get to the final either, having to get by the human robot Stefan Kondolay in the semis.

It was almost like deju vu all over again with SIAH’s own Zak Clarke up against Chris Cannon over in Super Gas. After a slight victory on the tree (Clarke: 0.011 / Cannon: 0.016) Zak took a little too much stripe, running under with a 9.897 to a 9.909 over in the other lane. This one was for a Wally too… Damn!

What a couple of weeks it has been for Team Surrey In A Hurry! First the info came in about Zak’s three wins and last loser runner up in back to back weekends. Now another phenominal performance has our own Joe “Top Wop” Mura walking away with a PAIR of Wally’s… and he didn’t even steal them. Bada Bing!

Smokin’ Joe went two for two this past June 28th and 29th, 2008 at the Bremerton Raceway stop of the NHRA Northwest National Open Series. On sabato (Saturday), Joe whacked Al Chin for the Super Pro win, while Marc Heritage was taken care of in the domenica (Sunday) Top Wop Comp final. For details on the weekend, check out Joe’s notes later on.

To add to the Team’s almost complete domination over the past couple of weeks, Surrey In A Hurry’s youngest member, Justin Gibson missed a Junior Dragster Wally by that much on Sunday. Great job Justin! Just hope you didn’t get beat by a girl again… Ha! I couldn’t resist; sorry!

Saturday I entered S/pro and Top Comp. lost 1st round in T/C by a margin of victory of .0025  so I continued on in S/pro taking out S/pro points leader Jason Gibson in the 3rd round and continued to the final where I met up with Al Chin. He was -006 red and 9.527 on 9.54 dial I was .009 green 7.566 on a 7.57 dial and got the easy win.

On Sunday lost 1^st round in S/pro. My .009 light to his .181 light but my car wouldn’t shift into high gear (“eh, whadda you gonna do, it’s a Cadillac forget about it”) (quote from Donny Brasco) so I continued on in Top Comp to the final where I met up with good buddy Marc Heritage. I was .014 on the tree and 7.596 on a 7.60 dial and got the win. He was .022 on the tree and 7.561 on a 7.57 dial.

So I guess you could call it two Wally’s for the Wop. At least 1 win was in Top Wop  eliminator.

On another note, Justin Gibson runnered up in junior dragster on Sunday in Bremerton as well. I wish I had the photos of the winners circle to send in with me and the gibson family as we are in three of them (2 wins for me and 1 r/u for Justin)

Team Surrey In A Hurry took the Lap of a Lifetime around the NASCAR oval at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Luckily, a crew of videographers with state of the art equipment was there to capture it for us. There are two versions of Quicktime videos available. We’re working on getting Windows Media Player versions out next. Check it out!

Oh yeah… Team Surrey In A Hurry will be in Las Vegas, NV, this week at the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals ! Unlike last year though, we’re not just makingt the trip to spectate… this time we’re actually racing! Zak’s gonna take a crack at SuperGas — National Event style!

A couple of unnamed speed demons well qualified drivers have already transported Zak’s Berlinetta Beretta to Vegas in world record time a safe and sane manor. Zak and Tony will fly in like rock stars and meet up on Wednesday night.

We’re at ‘The Strip’ and Zak’s made a couple of time hits. The Beretta is running good for zero data. The sun is out in full force and this place runs cars through in a hurry! Over 500 cars in just 4 hours! The track must be way shorter here or something… Stay tuned!
