(This just in… and I mean just in. The text message from Zak just came in 30 seconds ago…)

In what has to be the quickest SIAH update ever, it appears that Team Surrey In A Hurry members kicked ass and took names this weekend at the final race of this years NHRA Northwest National Open Series in Portland, OR.

Joe “Top Wop” Mura is making the long tow home as the 2008 National Open Series Top Comp CHAMPION! No details yet on who he raced or how he did, but as the info comes in it’ll get posted here.

Not to be outdone, it looks like Jason “Piston Broke” Gibson dragging his wounded Mustang all the way down wasn’t such a bad idea after all. No details either yet on how he did it, but Jason is this year’s National Open Series Super Pro CHAMPION! Running on a cracked piston…

Future drag racing superstar Justin “Where’s my Shirt?” Gibson wasn’t letting his Dad and Joe take all the glory. Making it three for three, Justin is now the 2008 National Open Series Junior Dragster CHAMPION! Again, no details on the racing yet, but that sure beats losing to a girl, huh?

Hey, speaking of girls and Jr Dragsters, apparently Kayla Allen now has to detail Zak Clarke’s Beretta. Seems she challenged Zak to a reaction time shootout.

Kayla, Kayla, Kayla… you’ll learn. Never, ever, ever challenge Zak (or accept a challenge from him) on ANYTHING. He’s got voodoo luck; things will almost always go his way. You can’t win!

Just got an update from Jason Gibson with more details about his Mustang and what we heard was a blown head gasket :

“…just thought i would give you an update of the car,not just one head gasket but both of them, as well as blowing the front bushing and seal out of the converter. Sent converter to TCS only to find out it was busted up pretty bad inside. Therefore negating a transmission disassembly to clean all the crap out. But best of all while the heads were off i couldnt help but notice a one inch crack right in the middle of the #4 piston…

Anyone got a superpro car for rent? Only two days till i need to leave for Portland N/O and Boise.

I think im going to shoot the moon… WHOOOPA!!!”

Oh man! That’s way worse than what we reported! Hopefully somebody will see this and lend a hand to an all-around good guy and a fellow racer in need. If there’s anything Team SIAH can do Jason, just let us know.

Hey… speaking of Super Pro cars for rent. There’s a certain other blue Mustang collecting dust now that the owner’s new red one is finally up and running. Maybe check on that one!

Has anyone been keeping count of the Wally’s ‘the Team’ has brought home this season? If so, add a couple more…

At the rain-delayed Lordco Auto Parts NHRA National Open Double Header at the Eagle Motorplex on July 12th, 2008 (original race date: May 30th – June 1st) Justin Gibson and Pete Bereditsch each snagged the ‘Holy Grail’ of drag racing trophies. Nice!

Justin’s win came in Jr Digger with a hard-on-the-brakes 9.24 on his 9.07 dial while Chloe Carre’s .47 was a liitle to quick for her 10.48 prediction. Great work by Team SIAH’s youngest member! We promise… a shirt is coming; seriously!

The Dragon Slayer’s Pete’s Wally was the fruit of yet another all Surrey In A Hurry Super Pro final round. His 0.016 RT got the jump on Al Quigley’s relatively sleepy 0.039 in his 2 year old new RH Racecars Mustang. Al’s 9.710 on a 9.69 wasn’t enough to get around the founder of ‘80 Black Camaro Eliminator’s 11.799 on a 11.78 lap.

Hey Quig: Did you find where the ~0.040 delay is hiding in your ‘box yet? Some might take that as a burn, but it’s not meant to be. The normally “Quick Quig” really seems to think there’s some bonus numbers stuck in his new delay box.

Dave Jung was doing everything he could to make it a three-fer with a win in Pro. Unfortunately, he had to settle for the much less desireable third-place ‘Whalley‘ instead.

By the way; in case anyone wants to know to become a member of Team Surrey In A Hurry? Sure, bribes work… but you go out and win a Wally or two and we’ll probably just claim you as our own!
